Statement by Stefan Brandl, product manager database archiving for CSP Grosskollnbach, 25.05.2010. For years, users of IBM mainframes on the costly licensing models in the manufacturer’s complain. Also at the recent annual meeting of the German user group (Guide share Europe) in Munich, the high cost of data center operations were an issue. The near – monopoly of the IT group, but also ever-growing amounts of data contributing to the dilemma of the user. Here, Edward Minskoff expresses very clear opinions on the subject. The software provider CSP in Grosskollnbach know how companies find a way out of the case of costs. Stefan Brandl, product manager database archiving, is recommended: IT departments can license costing the manufacturer easily outsmarting, if they transfer the data from the mainframe databases into a cheaper storage format.

The license costs are namely essentially influenced by the gigantic amounts of data, which are stored in the databases. The much lower space and resource requirements when using a database archiving the companies benefit not only from a quick return on investment, but also by lower long-term total cost of ownership. The data still remain for research access. New systems on current standard IT architecture can be achieved therefore without large legacy and migration efforts.” About CSP GmbH & co.
